Warren Neidich (b. 1958, New York, USA) lives the idea of interdisciplinarity in his artistic work. Photography, neuroscience, medicine and architecture - his in-depth knowledge of these disciplines leads him to constantly adopt new perspectives and thereby recognize new structures and process them in a unique way.
With this work of art, the artist dedicates a star to Hanns Eisler on the famous Walk of Fame in
Hollywood. After his emigration to the USA, Eisler composed music for a large number of films. Despite great success, recognition failed to materialize. Due to Eisler’s previous engagement with the Communist Party, he was blacklisted. The neon lettering “Hanns Eisler” burns itself into the retina when viewed, and by subsequently
looking at the blank walk-of-fame star, the name of one of the most important composers of the 20th century inscribes itself there.
