Finissage: Dance and painting performance by artist Ishita Chakraborty

For the ending of our exhibition The Mouth Is for Speaking, we will do a workshop that is based on the concept by artist Ishita Chakraborty, who explores cultural diversity through the spice rack that carries a long history of colonialism, slave trade, and migration.

The participants are invited to draw and trace their collective journeys, stories, songs, mother tongues, or recipes while painting and writing on bedsheets with spices, tea, or coffee.
To celebrate the end of the show, Ishita and Azad a Kurdish national and a teacher, a political asylum seeker will invite the people to participate in the dance performance with all the sheets that have been painted by the children and participants during period of the exhibition.

The workshop is a cartographic experience to interweave the multicultural lyrics to weave an unmade song by stimulating several senses.

Finissage: Mal- und Tanzperformance der Künstlerin Ishita Chakraborty

Unsere Ausstellung The Mouth Is for Speaking geht langsam dem Ende zu, hierfür organisieren wir nochmals einen Workshop basiert auf dem Konzept der Künstlerin Ishita Chakraborty, welche die kulturelle Vielfalt anhand des Gewürzregals erforscht, das eine lange Geschichte von Kolonialismus, Sklavenhandel und Migration trägt.

Die Teilnehmer*innen sind eingeladen, ihre gemeinsamen Reisen, Geschichten, Lieder, Muttersprachen oder Rezepte nachzuzeichnen, während sie auf Bettlaken mit Gewürzen, Tee oder Kaffee malen und schreiben.

Im Anschluss an den Workshop, zelebrieren wir das Ende der Ausstellung mit der Tanzperformance von Ishita Chakraborty und Azad Colemêrg, einem Lehrer aus Kurdistan und politischen Geflüchteten, der in der Schweiz lebt. Wir verwenden alle bemalten Leinentücher, die während den Workshops enstanden während den letzten Monaten.
